The Act of Caring is a Swedish brand dedicated to creating cleaning products that make our things last because the best thing you can do for the planet is to prolong the life of the items you already own. The products are based on natural ingredients which results in vegan, plant-based cleaning products that are kind to nature.

 

The Act of Caring intends to contribute to a paradigm shift – a shift that prioritizes longevity and detests the take-make-waste mindset. Using an organic philosophy often associated with skincare, The Act of Caring develops cleaning products that are natural and powerful at the same time. The brand is intent on continuously developing effective formulas that will support each individual’s shift toward a sustainable world. One where consumerism and consumption is minimised and durability and conscientiousness is prioritized. These are the very values that The Act of Caring were born on.

The Act of Caring wanted to develop a product that would help individuals appreciate quality, natural materials and the things they already own. The Act of Caring was born on sustainable beliefs. The brand creates products that incite and encourage the small but responsible acts in our everyday life. Every act that cares for the things we already own contributes to preserving the planet, protecting the environment and conserving its resources.

The Act of Caring is a lifestyle concept devoted and committed to making things last. This is the mission and vision that drives the Swedish brand behind the eco-friendly cleaning products. The brand makes their contribution to a better world by providing a solution to the dilemma of over-consumption. The Act of Caring and their products have a double positive effect; Not only do their products prolong the life of existing materials and items, but their products also come in better packaging that is refillable. 

 

Effective and delicate formulas

All products by The Act of Caring are based on natural, vegan and biodegradable ingredients. The brand prioritizes the development of effective formulas that serve their purpose but are kind to nature at the same time. Finding and sourcing non-toxic preservatives for cleaning products is no easy feat and a challenge at best. However, The Act of Caring takes inspiration from organic skincare and brings the same high standards into producing their material care products. The result is effective yet delicate cleaning products that are manufactured in a small workshop on the west coast of Sweden. The ingredients of all their products can be found under each individual description and is part of their commitment of being transparent.

 

Packaging and Distribution

The brand’s commitment to transparency also carries into how The Act of Caring packages and distributes their products. The eco-friendly cleaning products come in bottles made from 100% recycled PET bottles. The brand only uses PCR (Post-Consumer Recycled) PET plastic bottles, and the colour of the bottles may therefore vary depending on the source. The caps and pumps of their bottles are partially made from plastic. However, in the spirit of being transparent, the brand makes it clear that they still hope and strive for a cap and pump solution that is made of 100% recycled material in the future. In the meantime, the bottles themselves are not only 100% recycled but also refillable. The refillable solution is the most sensible way forward according to The Act of Caring and it is also a great way to lower the environmental impact. The brand also contributes to lowering the impact on the planet by choosing land transportation to ship orders whenever possible.

Prolonging the lifetime of items you already own by cleaning and caring for them is the first step in preserving the planet for future generations. Product Lifecycle

Design

The Design Phase is a crucial part of determining a product’s sustainable capabilities. We’ve chosen to highlight a few genius steps that enable a sustainable product right from the beginning.

    Material & Material Extraction

    The materials used for a certain product and how these materials come to life are of crucial importance to the sustainable capabilities we seek in products.

      Transportation of Materials

      This step relates to the transportation of the raw materials from when they are first obtained (harvested etc.) to the production site. Obviously, the closer to the production site, the better.

        Production

        Obviously, the production of a certain product has an impact on the overall level of sustainability. Luckily, many manufacturers have now taken steps towards more sustainable production methods.

          Packaging

          How a brand chooses to package its products will have a significant influence of the carbon impact from packaging and transportation.

            Distribution

            This step relates to the distribution of products when they have been produced. Obviously, the closer to the brand’s warehouse, the better.

              Usage

              How you choose to use and take care of a product has a bigger impact than you think. Just think about how much longer a shirt lasts if it has been washed in the right way.

                End of life

                At this step, there is no way out and we have to find some way of discarding our product. How we discard a product will significantly influence the opportunity of reusing materials used.
