About AiiA Care

AiiA Care was founded by former journalist Trine Øveraas together with two passionate skincare developers from the Danish island of Funen. Trine’s road to becoming CEO of AiiA Care is in large part thanks to these two developers who have their backgrounds as medical pharmacist and chemical engineer, respectively.

As a 41-year-old, Trine Øveraas experienced the toll that breast cancer treatment has on the body. It prompted her to reevaluate and reflect on the ways that she could live a life that was cleaner and could help restore the skin after chemotherapy. At the same time, the two developers were looking for a journalist that could help launch the skincare products they had created. At the time, these skincare products still didn’t have a name but the concept was clear; the products were cleaner and better than what existed on the market and they were based on the nature of the skin. Trine was on board and the result became AiiA Care.

AiiA Care is built on the notion that healthy skin is beautiful skin. Their products are simple, natural, clean, and sustainable. The contents are based on the basic nature of the skin combining environmentally friendly, natural and hypoallergenic ingredients with the latest science.

Brand sustainability

Trine Øveraas and the two other developers created AiiA Care because they saw that the market needed skincare products that were cleaner and better. With science as the cornerstone of AiiA Care, their products are based on the nature of the skin to provide the best care needed to function optimally. Through thorough research, they saw that the skin must have moisture in the dead skin cells in order for the skin to have a healthy immune system.

AiiA’s products support the optimal cell function and with the use of their products, the highest water concentration in the cells of the outer layer of skin is ensured. By ensuring that the outer layer is humid, the new layer of skin and its ingenious ecosystem is allowed to thrive and your skin’s natural properties can shine.

AiiA Care is a greeting to “Gaia”, also known as Mother Earth. Their products symbolize balance and its ingredients are environmentally friendly, natural and hypoallergenic. These ingredients are certified and comply with the highest standards for sustainability.

AiiA Care is certified by the Nordic EcoLabel, the Ecocert COSMOS certification and the Allergy Certification. The certifications of AiiA Care’s water-based products simply reassure consumers that choosing AiiA Care is a sustainable choice that is better for the skin.

AiiA Care’s packaging is another step to be as sustainable as possible. It is clean, safe and free of any chemicals. Their packaging is made of PP-plastic and they use air pumps to avoid any product waste and ensure that all the product is pumped out of the bottle. The air density that AiiA’s packaging warrants also means that AiiA can avoid any and all preservatives in their products.

In addition to a sustainable approach to the materials of their packaging, AiiA Care also reduce packaging where possible and avoid double wraps such as cardboard or cellophane.

The Comarché Notes

Product Lifecycle

The Design Phase is a crucial part of determining a product’s sustainable capabilities. We’ve chosen to highlight a few genius steps that enable a sustainable product right from the beginning.

    Material & Material Extraction

The materials used for a certain product and how these materials come to life are of crucial importance to the sustainable capabilities we seek in products.

      Transportation of Materials

This step relates to the transportation of the raw materials from when they are first obtained (harvested etc.) to the production site. Obviously, the closer to the production site, the better.

Obviously, the production of a certain product has an impact on the overall level of sustainability. Luckily, many manufacturers have now taken steps towards more sustainable production methods.

How a brand chooses to package its products will have a significant influence of the carbon impact from packaging and transportation.

This step relates to the distribution of products when they have been produced. Obviously, the closer to the brand’s warehouse, the better.

How you choose to use and take care of a product has a bigger impact than you think. Just think about how much longer a shirt lasts if it has been washed in the right way.

                End of life

At this step, there is no way out and we have to find some way of discarding our product. How we discard a product will significantly influence the opportunity of reusing materials used.
