This passion persisted to this day, complementing their organic cider with a variety of other apple-based products, including organic soda, organic lemonade, and organic gin.

 

The philosophy behind their beverages is grounded in innovation and a desire to provide superior tasting apple drinks of various kinds. Bryggeriet Æ’s ambition is to create unique products from the best raw ingredients, without ever having to compromise on quality. Always crafting with honesty and love, the brand is forever challenging the limits of what you can achieve with Scandinavian apples, berries and other types of local fruit. The materials they use are always organic and locally grown whenever possible, as it’s more beneficial for the body and the environment.

 

Delivering light and uplifting flavoursome natural drinks that rely solely on the fruits’ own natural sugar for sweetness, the company doesn't use any other type of artificial preservatives either. Therefore, ensure you keep your Æ products refrigerated after opening.

Long before ‘organic’ became mainstream, Troels and Thomas were growing up among Denmark’s orchards that are known to grow some of the best apples in the world. Today, the duo is innovating organic beverages from Funen orchard, where their small brewery is also located. The decision to make organic drinks was driven by their love of nature – they believed in looking after the countryside and working in harmony with the environment. Environmental consideration was placed firmly at the heart of the business by working with the countryside, its seasons, ways and principles. They nurture the orchard and its thriving ecosystem. The orchard grows with minimum intervention from their behalf, with sustainable harvesting that involves no use of pesticides, manufactured herbicides, or artificial fertilizers.

 

It is essential for Bryggeriet Æ that their products are as natural as possible, with a fresh and intense taste, and an origin they can carry forward with a clear conscience. One of the brand’s missions is to challenge what it can achieve with Nordic fruits and berries, without using additives, artificial aromas, dyes, E-numbers, citric acid, or anything else that’s not already present in the fruit. Their products are as honest as they come, containing nothing else but what nature itself offers – must, juice in its purest form, and just a shot of carbon dioxide for a bubbly effect. With no added sugar either, the apples’ 100% natural sweetness sets off the base flavour of all their products.

 

Bryggeriet Æ has always selected plentiful, seasonal ingredients that are organic and locally produced for the better of our bodies and the environment. When necessary, they use raw produce from suppliers they know and trust. They have searched for partners who share their passion, choosing to collaborate with carefully selected distilling experts for an optimal product. To ensure a natural taste and freshness, Æ runs its production in small batches, processing their products as gently as their ingredients will allow it.

Design

The Design Phase is a crucial part of determining a product’s sustainable capabilities. We’ve chosen to highlight a few genius steps that enable a sustainable product right from the beginning.

    Material & Material Extraction

    The materials used for a certain product and how these materials come to life are of crucial importance to the sustainable capabilities we seek in products.

      Transportation of Materials

      This step relates to the transportation of the raw materials from when they are first obtained (harvested etc.) to the production site. Obviously, the closer to the production site, the better.

        Production

        Obviously, the production of a certain product has an impact on the overall level of sustainability. Luckily, many manufacturers have now taken steps towards more sustainable production methods.

          Packaging

          How a brand chooses to package its products will have a significant influence of the carbon impact from packaging and transportation.

            Distribution

            This step relates to the distribution of products when they have been produced. Obviously, the closer to the brand’s warehouse, the better.

              Usage

              How you choose to use and take care of a product has a bigger impact than you think. Just think about how much longer a shirt lasts if it has been washed in the right way.

                End of life

                At this step, there is no way out and we have to find some way of discarding our product. How we discard a product will significantly influence the opportunity of reusing materials used.
