About Nordifakt

Nordifakt combines antibacterial technology with an eco-friendly mindset to create durable, low-impact products. The brand creates home essentials that are bacteria free, dual purpose and require minimal washing. Nordifakt is founded by two women, Sofie and Trine. The duo wanted to incorporate available technology to carry sustainability even further. The two do not believe that eco-friendly means going back to the ways of the Stone Age. Instead, Sofie and Trine are using the technology in a positive way so consumers can live healthier, more efficient and smarter.

 

The brand name is not coinciendetal. Nord or North and Artefakt or Artifact in English became Nordifakt and the name embodies the identity of the Danish company. Nordifakt is rooted in classic aesthetics of the north and the functional demands of the artifacts in every home. Nordifakt engineers the antibacterial technology into all their products. The products can be washed less, require lower temperatures, are versatile and have a longer lifetime. At the same time, the technology ensures that consumers are never compromising on hygiene. In the end, Nordifakt are changing and providing the word with a sustainable and better alternative.

Brand sustainability

Nordifakt is founded and created on the basis of modern technology. The antibacterial technology in all Nordifakt products is a sustainable addition to any consumers home. The way Nordifakt sees it, eco-friendly is not going back in time to the ways of the Stone Age. Instead, eco-friendly, in the eyes of Nordifakt, is incorporating today’s technology into the design of new products.

 

The antibacterial technology eliminates 99.9% of all bacteria and keeps Nordifakt products fresh and odor free. Because of this technology, Nordifakt products require less washing (which saves an average of 1800 liters of water per year) and less energy to keep clean. The technology also ensures that the products can be cold washed thereby saving even more energy and prolonging the life-time of each product. The way it works is that all Nordifakt products are treated with Polygiene ®, a provider of antimicrobial solutions and sustainable silver fabric treatments. The treatments safely prevent the growth of odor-causing bacteria at the source. The silver salt in the treatment effectively kills bacteria, fungi and other microbes. And even better, the silver salt is naturally found in both water and soil. Polygiene® is OEKO-TEX as well as Bluesign approved. Nordifakt utilizes impressive technology that prolongs the life-cycle and life-time of every product while at the same time increasing durability, minimizing odor and contributing to a better future for our planet.

The Design Phase is a crucial part of determining a product’s sustainable capabilities. We’ve chosen to highlight a few genius steps that enable a sustainable product right from the beginning.

    Material & Material Extraction

    The materials used for a certain product and how these materials come to life are of crucial importance to the sustainable capabilities we seek in products.

      Transportation of Materials

      This step relates to the transportation of the raw materials from when they are first obtained (harvested etc.) to the production site. Obviously, the closer to the production site, the better.

        Production

        Obviously, the production of a certain product has an impact on the overall level of sustainability. Luckily, many manufacturers have now taken steps towards more sustainable production methods.

          Packaging

          How a brand chooses to package its products will have a significant influence of the carbon impact from packaging and transportation.

            Distribution

            This step relates to the distribution of products when they have been produced. Obviously, the closer to the brand’s warehouse, the better.

              Usage

              How you choose to use and take care of a product has a bigger impact than you think. Just think about how much longer a shirt lasts if it has been washed in the right way.

                End of life

                At this step, there is no way out and we have to find some way of discarding our product. How we discard a product will significantly influence the opportunity of reusing materials used.
