About Poetry Lab

Poetry Lab is a Danish experimental studio that translates poetic emotions and personality into print. The art studio was founded by Dagmar Petersen with craftmanship as the main focus. All by herself and with her sleeves rolled up, Dagmar succeeds at encapsulating the world and its everchanging nature into beautiful works of art. The goal is to embrace the aesthetics and beauty of chance. The result of this experimental approach is poetry that can be found in these simple yet complex artworks.

Brand Ethos

After several years in the fashion industry, the founder of Poetry Lab, Dagmar, wanted to distance herself from careless consumerism and fast fashion. As a showdown to fast fashion, Poetry Lab was created. Thus, Poetry Lab has a sustainability related issue as a reason for its very exitance.

Brand sustainability

Poetry Lab is, in its simplicity and simultaneous complexity, poetry told through craftsmanship.

When Dagmar left her previous job in the fashion industry, she wanted to distance herself from careless consumerism and fast fashion. Instead, Dagmar wanted to embrace slow aesthetics in her studio. Accordingly, Poetry Lab is a studio that accommodates curiosity, soul, and the necessary time for each artwork’s poetic process. In the end, Poetry Lab is a studio where the combination of poetry and craftsmanship flourishes.

Poetry Lab believes in good quality and craftmanship. Therefore, all art works are original or limited-edition art prints. The ROYALBLUES collection is printed on Hänemuhle oxygen-free quality paper. All prints are produced locally in Aarhus, Denmark, in a family-owned printing facility. The local printing facility use water-based ink and reuse all ink cartridges. Furthermore, it has zero wastewater and very low CO2 emissions. In order to avoid overproduction, all prints are made to order.

The Comarché Notes

Beautiful and original artwork never goes out of style! We’re particularly down with the ROYALBLUES series, which makes us think of the Danish summer. We promise that these artworks will brighten up your wall, as well as your day. Oh, and did we mention that all prints are produced under excellent conditions right here in Denmark?

Product Lifecycle

The Design Phase is a crucial part of determining a product’s sustainable capabilities. We’ve chosen to highlight a few genius steps that enable a sustainable product right from the beginning.

    Material & Material Extraction

The materials used for a certain product and how these materials come to life are of crucial importance to the sustainable capabilities we seek in products.

      Transportation of Materials

This step relates to the transportation of the raw materials from when they are first obtained (harvested etc.) to the production site. Obviously, the closer to the production site, the better.

Obviously, the production of a certain product has an impact on the overall level of sustainability. Luckily, many manufacturers have now taken steps towards more sustainable production methods.

How a brand chooses to package its products will have a significant influence of the carbon impact from packaging and transportation.

This step relates to the distribution of products when they have been produced. Obviously, the closer to the brand’s warehouse, the better.

How you choose to use and take care of a product has a bigger impact than you think. Just think about how much longer a shirt lasts if it has been washed in the right way.

                End of life

At this step, there is no way out and we have to find some way of discarding our product. How we discard a product will significantly influence the opportunity of reusing materials used.
