Schulz by Crowd is a Danish sustainable crowdsourced fashion brand established in 2015 by Marie Schulz Kjær, working with a network of over 100 skilled fashion and print designers.

Schulz by Crowd is driven by a passion to create sustainable fashion pieces for a functional wardrobe for women who value style, quality, craftsmanship and sustainability.

You will always find a red thread in the Schulz by Crowd design aesthetic: timeless, sophisticated and simple in expression, while still embodying intricate details.

At Schulz by Crowd, it's not about buying often - it’s about investing in bespoke pieces which preserve their exclusive look and value. They only work with exquisite textiles with longevity such as organic cotton and silk.

Brand sustainability

Sustainability is a fundamental cornerstone in the Schulz by Crowd brand. They believe that the only way forward is to be kind to our earth and everyone involved in the development of their styles.

Schulz by Crowd have a sustainable focus throughout all stages of the production process – from design to the choice of fabrics and the ways in which they are processed, dyed and sewn.

These are some of the highlights:

  • The design is timeless and made to last. They value craftsmanship and put a lot of effort into the development of each style.
  • Schulz by Crowd carefully select only natural or sustainable materials such as organic GOTS certified cotton or 100%.
  • Only cooperate with good factories that share the same values and they never compromise on working conditions. To ensure this, they work with the Danish consulting company Sourcing House who provides them with qualified suppliers who have all signed the Schulz by Crowd Code of Conduct prior to collaboration.
  • Have recently launched a circular recycling concept, Pre-Loved, where you can hand in your old Schulz by Crowd item so it can be loved by a new owner

Schulz by Crowd actively raise awareness of the consumer’s responsibility to take care of his/her clothing. Their care labels not only indicate how to wash and dry items correctly but encourage customers to consider how frequently they wash their clothes.

Brand Ethos

Schulz by Crowd is a Born Sustainable brand. They work explicitly with Corporate Social Responsibility, they take pride in designing seasonal collections with limited stock, and they focus on a less is more approach.

They have formed their own Code of Conduct based on the 10 principles of the UN Global Compact and they work after a five-year-plan in an effort to become even more sustainable over time. Thus, Schulz by Crowd truly is a born sustainable brand with strong sustainable values in the centre of their brand ethos.

Product Lifecycle


The Design Phase is a crucial part of determining a product’s sustainable capabilities. We’ve chosen to highlight a few genius steps that enable a sustainable product right from the beginning.

    Material & Material Extraction

    The materials used for a certain product and how these materials come to life are of crucial importance to the sustainable capabilities we seek in products.

      Transportation of Materials

      This step relates to the transportation of the raw materials from when they are first obtained (harvested etc.) to the production site. Obviously, the closer to the production site, the better.


        Obviously, the production of a certain product has an impact on the overall level of sustainability. Luckily, many manufacturers have now taken steps towards more sustainable production methods.


          How a brand chooses to package its products will have a significant influence of the carbon impact from packaging and transportation.


            This step relates to the distribution of products when they have been produced. Obviously, the closer to the brand’s warehouse, the better.


              How you choose to use and take care of a product has a bigger impact than you think. Just think about how much longer a shirt lasts if it has been washed in the right way.

                End of life

                At this step, there is no way out and we have to find some way of discarding our product. How we discard a product will significantly influence the opportunity of reusing materials used.
