About Vølve

Vølve was founded in 2014 by Thea Thorup in opposition to the established beauty industry. The founding of the company was a direct reaction to  the many products that contained more and more harmful chemicals.

So, in contrast, Vølve makes pure organic beauty products based on Nordic plant extracts with active and healing properties.

The manifestation to create everyday luxury in the form of highly effective beauty products at affordable prices is Vølve’s foundation.

Each Vølve product is created in deep respect for the world and with a desire to pamper customers around the world.

Vølve aims to attract loyal customers who are also equally loyal to sustainability, the kind of sustainability that puts emphasis on organic products which are beneficial to our health and good for the environment.

In the end, Vølve lives by the notion that honesty and authenticity create trust and lasting results.

Brand sustainability

Vølve is a Danish company that produces organic beauty products based on Nordic plant extracts which are used because of their active and healing properties. The products are free of harmful preservatives, artificial fragrances, and other chemicals and therefore particularly suitable for everyone with serious allergies as well as those with the most delicate skin.

At Vølve, the goal is to attract consumers who see sustainability for the benefit of health and for the good of the environment. This means that Vølve is removing all artificial layers and instead creating a transparent, simple, and honest beauty universe.

Vølve combines natural medicine traditions with the latest research in modern dermatology. By combining knowledge about the active base and healing properties of the Nordic plants with the wisdom of nature, Vølve creates pure, effective and natural beauty products.

Brand Ethos

Vølve produces and sells natural and organic skincare products, handmade with love and dedication from day 1. Vølve is thus a true Born Sustainable brand.

The Comarché Notes

Product Lifecycle

Design

The Design Phase is a crucial part of determining a product’s sustainable capabilities. We’ve chosen to highlight a few genius steps that enable a sustainable product right from the beginning.

    Material & Material Extraction

The materials used for a certain product and how these materials come to life are of crucial importance to the sustainable capabilities we seek in products.

      Transportation of Materials

This step relates to the transportation of the raw materials from when they are first obtained (harvested etc.) to the production site. Obviously, the closer to the production site, the better.

        Production

Obviously, the production of a certain product has an impact on the overall level of sustainability. Luckily, many manufacturers have now taken steps towards more sustainable production methods.

          Packaging

How a brand chooses to package its products will have a significant influence of the carbon impact from packaging and transportation.

            Distribution

This step relates to the distribution of products when they have been produced. Obviously, the closer to the brand’s warehouse, the better.

              Usage

How you choose to use and take care of a product has a bigger impact than you think. Just think about how much longer a shirt lasts if it has been washed in the right way.

                End of life

At this step, there is no way out and we have to find some way of discarding our product. How we discard a product will significantly influence the opportunity of reusing materials used.
