Brand sustainability

YUMMII YUMMII seek to inspire sustainable methods of packing food and drinks. They work with environmentally friendly and recyclable materials such as steel and silicone to ensure a green future and offer a great alternative to plastic. Most of their products are made with stainless steel 18/8, which is a type of steel that is extremely durable and 100% recyclable.

Stainless steel is chemical free, free of phthalates and BPA toxins and cools far more intensely than plastic, thus it will help reduce food waste as it keeps food fresh for a longer period of time. Another alternative to plastic is silicone which is also extremely durable. Silicone is made of silica, which originates naturally from sand. It is exceptionally temperature resistant and has a long life.

The packaging of YUMMII YUMMII’s products is also sustainable. Products are packaged in resuable mesh- and canvas bags that are GOTS-certified, ensuring environmentally and socially responsible production.

Quality is paramount at YUMMII YUMMII and they are constantly testing and verifying their products. This guarantees that all their products meet the applicable standards set by the food authorities in the EU, LFGB and FDA - Europe, Germany and the USA. The certifications are approved by SGS and UL, who are among the world’s leading certification companies. All their food contact materials have a declaration of conformity which summarizes the company’s inspection work and is required by the Danish Food Authority to ensure that all materials comply with a meticulous set of rules.

YUMMII YUMMII are also a proud partner of the non-profit organization One Tree Planted. For every review that they receive on their website, YUMMII YUMMII helps plant a tree where they are most needed.

Sustainable highlights on brand level

Product Lifecycle

The Design Phase is a crucial part of determining a product’s sustainable capabilities. We’ve chosen to highlight a few genius steps that enable a sustainable product right from the beginning.

    Material & Material Extraction

The materials used for a certain product and how these materials come to life are of crucial importance to the sustainable capabilities we seek in products.

      Transportation of Materials

This step relates to the transportation of the raw materials from when they are first obtained (harvested etc.) to the production site. Obviously, the closer to the production site, the better.

Obviously, the production of a certain product has an impact on the overall level of sustainability. Luckily, many manufacturers have now taken steps towards more sustainable production methods.

How a brand chooses to package its products will have a significant influence of the carbon impact from packaging and transportation.

This step relates to the distribution of products when they have been produced. Obviously, the closer to the brand’s warehouse, the better.

How you choose to use and take care of a product has a bigger impact than you think. Just think about how much longer a shirt lasts if it has been washed in the right way.

                End of life

At this step, there is no way out and we have to find some way of discarding our product. How we discard a product will significantly influence the opportunity of reusing materials used.
